Just less than 2 months before Jean & Jeff’s nuptials I was in Punta Cana for Katie & Brett’s wedding seen HERE. But a different resort = a new change of scenery and I am always thinking what I can do to make my work better than before. Even though I came by myself this time around, I was ready to tackle the extreme heat and work it. The Majestic Elegance was an amazing place with the perfect backdrops. I loved having a lot of time with the guys and girls for getting ready shots before the beach ceremony. Prior to the ceremony, a few drizzles were coming down and gray clouds began to form overhead. We knew they would pass and luckily, the clouds parted just in time for a beautiful ceremony.

We headed back to the grand staircase at the lobby for group photos just before getting into some totally awesome wedding party shots. By the time Jean & Jeff’s photos came around, it was super windy, then it began to drizzle, and finally it POURED (I got sand blasted so bad I will probably have sand in my ears for weeks). We managed to get some great shots in, but luckily we knew we still had our Trash the Dress session the following day. The reception was pulled inside the See & Sea Restaurant overlooking the beach, which was equally beautiful inside as it was out. Tasty food, tastier drinks, and lots of tears shed later during the speeches, this wedding day definitely goes down into the books for being one of the best!

>>>Fast forward to the next evening for an amazing Trash the Dress session! Jean brought a plethora of props for us to use so we started at the beach. After rearranging a couple dozen heavy lounge chairs, the wind began to pick up just in time for sandy photos. Not to fear, a nice jump in the pool at the sun went down did the trick ;)

Trash the Dress sessions are AMAAAAZING. What’s even more amazing is to photograph it at beautiful destinations like Punta Cana, Dominican Republic!

For anyone planning a destination wedding, having a day after session is a great idea for so many reasons.

1. it gives you alone time with just you and your new spouse, since you will be busy the whole week entertaining guests.

2. you get the chance to breathe, take in what has just happened, appreciate it and each other.

3. you get the most amazing photos you normally would not have the chance to take on your wedding day. (pretty sure no bride wants to show up to the reception with a mop head and seaweed on her see-through white dress)

4. you get to have more control over lighting, locations, and other more unpredictable factors occurring on your wedding day. Find a place with fewer tourists. Choose a more flattering time like sunrise or sunset.

SO grateful for STYLE ME PRETTY publishing this dual wedding-TTD session, to bring me to 11 posts with them for 2012 thus far :)
